It’s 4 o’clock in the morning and I’m watching Blue Bloods. The drama got me thinking of how much I I love and appreciate men and women in uniform.

I love a man in uniform. I also love a woman in uniform. I particularly have a fascination for military men and women. Military families face an array of challenges that most families don’t. The mere possibility of deployment can be an issue – practically leaving spouses/partners on their own to care for the family. When a military man or woman is deployed challenges and fear of possible service-related disabilities arise, and that’s not even the worst case scenario.

I’m not part of a military family but I feel for all the families who sacrifice a great deal to make this world a better place.

Below is a scene from the now defunct TV series, Brothers & Sisters. It revolves around Justin, the youngest member of the Walker family who’s dealing with addiction to pain meds after suffering from a service-related disability. This is one of the best fictional military family scenes in my book–  ‘gets me every time.

My favorite military-related site is Welcome Home Blog – a website of surprise video homecomings. Just like what the site states, “Regardless of political stance, no one can deny the joy felt upon seeing our troops coming home safely.”

“Patriotism is not short, frenzied, outbursts of emotion, but the dedication of a lifetime.”

LOVE and LIGHT to all! X
